LoryLory Benson has been helping people achieve a healthier lifestyle for over 25 years through Pilates, nutrition and holistic health. She began her journey with a B.S. in Health Promotion from the American University and Alternative Wellness/Holistic Health from Eastern Oregon University.  After graduation, Lory moved to Germany, the birthplace of Joseph Pilates, and immersed herself in the German world of Pilates. She also studied holistic healing, Ayurveda, Macrobiotics, and other wellness modalities, becoming a Board Certified Health Counselor and Natural Food Chef.

Lory received her Pilates certification from both B.A.S.I. and The Physical Mind Institute. She obtained her nutrition education at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and continued her culinary education studying Natural Food Therapy at the Natural Gourmet Institute in New York City; and is certified by the Association of Drugless Practioners (AADP). Lory also holds certifications as a Cooper Institute Personal Trainer, Certified Cancer Exercise Trainer, NIA White Belt, PSIA Ski Instructor, AASI Snowboard Instructor, Greg LeMond Bike Coach, and ARC Water Safety Instructor/Swim Coach.

Lory has taught the Pilates Method to clients ranging from 12 to 80 years of age. Her clients have included professional ski racers and hockey players, individuals with specific health issues and those simply looking for an alternative fitness program. Lory can apply Pilates in numerous modalities such as injury prevention, performance enhancement, rehabilitation (pre and post surgical) and fitness; utilizing modalities such as body rolling, myofascial release, postural/movement and analysis, Feldenkrais, strength and stability training, and trigger point therapy. In addition to Pilates, Lory leads workshops on nutrition, food cleanses, cooking classes and offers individual health counseling. She specializes in helping busy people with busy schedules to achieve balance.

Lory’s clients describe her as a kind, creative, dedicated and “out of the box “ Pilates instructor. She enjoys the challenge and problem solving Pilates requires, especially when treating chronic injuries clients have been regularly compensating for. She strongly believes in identifying the underlying issue to better support the body as a whole. Lory is a teacher whose passion for helping others is palpable.
